"I normally don’t post reviews BUT, Wow!! This bulb is the one product I never knew I needed. What a life saver..."
No matter where you live, power outages can strike at any moment. This self-charging, blackout-proof bulb can keep you safe… and it’s effortless to install!
I’ll never forget the sound of my wife’s wrist breaking.
Our kids were playing in the basement when the power went out.
My wife went running to get the kids… and she tripped on a laundry basket that was on the floor.
I could hear the snap down the hall… and I can still hear her scream, even though this happened more than a year ago.
As I (carefully) helped her to the car and then took her to the hospital, I realized how completely unprepared we were for power outages. And storm season was about to begin again...
So the moment we got home, I started searching for a solution that would help us avoid any more horrible accidents in the dark.
First I looked into generators… but they were way too expensive. Not only that, they take up a ton of space and cost a ridiculous amount to operate.
Plus, in an outage, you still need to go find them and turn them on in the dark… meaning they’re still dangerous!
We considered getting more flashlights and/or candles, but we realized they aren’t safe either… we could easily break another bone just looking for them in the dark.
Plus, what do we do when they run out of batteries? Or when one of our kids decides to play “Jack Jumped Over The Dangerous Open Flame In Total Darkness”?
Can you relate?
Then I remembered my buddy Tom, who manages tons of rental properties. So I sent him a message asking his opinion on what to do, and he said,
"Sorry to hear about Jenn! Yes, I use these bulbs called Surge. They work like regular light bulbs but they stay on during outages. I use them in every single property"
I took Tom’s advice and looked online to see what Surge was all about… and I’m really glad I asked!
We almost dropped $3,500 on a generator out of desperation, but these Surge bulbs work perfectly for our needs… plus, they were way cheaper than a generator, they’re also MUCH easier to install and maintain. You have to check them out!
What Are Surge Bulbs & How Do They Work?
During an outage, Surge can hold up to 6 hours of light and give off 800 lumens!
Surge bulbs look like regular light bulbs… and on a typical day, they work just like normal light bulbs. You can put them in your current light sockets and lamps, and turn them on and off with the light switch like normal.
The difference is that Surge Bulbs have an internal backup battery that charges up the bulb while you use it normally.
Then, when the power goes out, the Surge bulb automatically lights up. Surge lasts for over 6 hours during a power outage, and the best part is that there’s no interruption — they instantly detect the outage and power on.
That means no more fumbling around, putting yourself at risk… no more broken wrists!
The best part is that Surge are simply great bulbs even when power outages aren’t a problem. The LED technology uses 80% less energy than a typical lightbulb, and it can last up to 25,000 hours — that’s years, if not decades of use!
My Experience With Surge Bulbs
I put Surge Bulbs throughout my house. They charge up through regular use and come on when an outage strikes!
Tom’s endorsement made me look into them more — he operates a bunch of properties, so if he uses them, they’re good for all sorts of families.
When I researched Surge more, they seemed like a solid idea. So I ordered a bundle of Surge Bulbs to give them a shot.
I put them in my ceiling lights in the bathroom, stairway, basement, kitchen, and hallway. They also came with a hanging hook, so I hung that one from the garage rafters.
And it wasn’t a moment too soon! Because about a week later, we had our first power outage of the storm season.
Thankfully we’d used the bulbs already, so they were all charged up.
When the power went out, there was a brief momentary flash… and then, like magic, all the Surge Bulbs came on by themselves! Without skipping a beat, our whole home stayed well-lit… it was almost as if nothing had happened.
At one point, I needed to go to the basement, where we didn’t have any Surge bulbs installed yet. Thankfully, you can easily remove the bulbs from light fixtures and carry them around like a lantern using the included hook.
